Wise and Witty Prescriptions for Living from the Good Doctor,
On facing up to adversity,
I learned there are troubles of more than one kind.
Some come from ahead and some come from behind.
But I've bought a big bat.
I'm all ready, you see.
Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!
(from, "I had trouble getting to Solla Sollew")*
*taken from the book, "Seusss-isms"
more Seussisms for follow in the days ahead. This one was first in the book and a personal favorite of mine.

Re: Seuss-ism of the day
Fri, November 9, 2007 - 12:56 PMI remember reading that book as a youngster ... It was the first place where I got the idea that confrontation can lead to good things. See what he started?

Sat, November 10, 2007 - 1:21 PMI do not like green eggs and ham,
I do not like them, Lance-I Am.
I will not eat them while in port,
nor will I eat them in the court.
I will not eat them while I'm casting
(I am entertaining thoughts of fasting)
I will not eat them battleteching,
or after German fight gefechting
I do not like green eggs and ham,
I do not like them, Lance I am!

Re: Seuss-ism of the day
Thu, November 22, 2007 - 6:51 PMSorry for the delay in the posting of our next Seuss-ism, but life has been a bit hectic so the next post which is also about facing adversity should be rather appropiate. And here it is.
It's a troublesome world.
All the people who're in it
are troubled with troubles almost every minute.
Just tell yourself, Duckie,
you're really quite lucky!
Some people are much more...
oh, ever so much more...
oh, muchly much-much more
unlucky than you!
From "Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are?"
Once again the good doctor has passed along to us, in his oh so special way, good sound advice which we all can really use in our day to day lives.
Oh and one more thing Happy Thanksgiving to each and every one of you! -

Re: Seuss-ism of the day
Sat, November 24, 2007 - 3:25 PMOur next exerp is again taken directly from the book, "Seuss-isms," is on the subject of loyalty.
I meant what I said
And I said what I meant...
An elephant's faithful
One hundred per cent!
From, "Horton Hatches An Egg."
I really think there's more than one lesson to be learned here. One being that sometimes, if not most times, being literal is a good thing. This being the, "I meant what I said and said what I meant!," part of the passage. And of course if you are familiar with this piece of work you should already understand the loyalty part of the lesson. Being and doing the above is very important in my judgement as things that make a good person. -

Re: Seuss-ism of the day
Fri, November 30, 2007 - 7:20 PMSo last was on loyalty, and now one one it's rewards.
And the people came shouting,
"What's all this about...?"
They looked! And they stared
with their eyes popping out!
"My goodness! My gracious!"
they shouted. "MY WORD!"
It's something brand new!
IT'S AN ELEPHANT-BIRD!!"
And it should be, it should be,
it SHOULD be like that!
Because Horton was faithful!
He sat and he sat!
From, "Horton Hatches the Egg."
'nuff said for now. -
